Morrowind,  Tembriel Playthrough

In Which Tembriel Gets Glass Armor

Skyrim and ESO have gotten all my love lately, but I do still have a Morrowind playthrough in progress! So here’s a session in which I returned to Tembriel, and mostly worked on getting her more glass armor to prep her for the next phase of Morrowind’s overall plot.

Play by play

  • Play date: 12/25/2022
  • Session number in this run: 32
  • Christmas Morrowind! Picked up where I left off at the Mages Guild in Balmora
  • Set off on foot to try to get to Ghostgate
  • Killed some critters en route and wound up blowing through my Cure Blight potions
  • Hoofed it through Caldera but forgot where the hell Creeper was so wandered onward for now
  • Nearly made it to Ald’ruhn before veering east to try to hit the path to Ghostgate
  • Passed Shushishi on the way, but did not engage, may have to come back later?
  • Made it to Ghostgate and the place looks pretty cool 😀
  • Found the smith with all the glass armor, but found that I could not buy everything off of him, even with selling him tasty loot from the burial caverns
  • Got some of the glass armor off of him
  • Dropped a mark on the place to get back quickly, then went off to try to make more money
  • Amulet’d out to Ald’ruhn, then mage boinged back to Balmora
  • Sold some stuff to mages there to try to make more gold; picked up a few more loot items from storage
  • Mage boinged to Caldera
  • Found Creeper and sold him more things to get up over 6,000 gold
  • Went to Sadrith Mora to do the pending quest with Skink there still
  • Escorted a woman named Tenyeminwe to the docks and got Summon Atronach scrolls from her
  • Then did Skink’s quest to bring him a copy of Vampires of Vvardenfell Vol. 2, which required me to boing to Vivec; got another 1,000 gold from him for that
  • Returned to Ghostgate via Recall spell
  • Finished buying as much glass armor as I could; still lacking the helmet and pauldrons, but now have most of the set 😀
  • Saved there until next time

Commentary

Wow, I hadn’t touched my Morrowind playthrough in weeks! It was nice to get back to it, even with the relatively minor goal of trying to figure out if I could buy up all the glass armor available in Ghostgate.

And just getting to Ghostgate was a nice little jaunt, even given the monotony of the Ashlands part of the Morrowind landscape. It wasn’t too far east of Ald’ruhn, and once I finally found it, I really just liked the overall look of the gate. There was a switch on a pedestal out in front, presumably to trigger the barred tunnel through the center of the gate.

For the immediate moment, though, my only goal for showing up at the place was commerce. I’m assuming that I’ll need to come back here later for actual plot purposes, which will let me find out about what the deal is with the switch and such.

At least one of the merchants in the towers on either side of the gate refused to do business with me since I wasn’t a member of House Redoran. But fortunately, this did not apply to the guy who had all the glass armor.

The price of all that armor was, however, a problem. Even with bringing the various fancy pieces of loot I’d brought out of the Urshilaku Burial Caverns, I couldn’t quite afford to buy every single piece.

I had to head off temporarily to sell some stuff to Creeper in Caldera once I finally found him. And then I had to run a couple of minor quests for Skink-in-Tree’s-Shade, in Sadrith Mora. The escort run was particularly simple, and kind of silly, really–because the NPC I had to escort, Tenyeminwe, just wanted to go from a cornerclub on one side of the city to the docks on the other side. You, uh, couldn’t have just walked that distance yourself, lady?

(Though, in fairness, given how often cliff dancers swoop down out of the skies in this game, I can’t exactly blame her for wanting someone along to shoot them down for her, maybe. Though I do wonder how long Tenyeminwe had been holed up in that cornerclub if she didn’t want to venture outside on her own?)

Getting the book Skink wanted was equally simple. Especially given that it was a book I’d already found, Vampires of Vvardenfell Vol. 2. So I went back to the bookshop in Vivec’s Foreign Quarter, and got a copy there to bring back.

Next time

I got all the armor pieces except the helmet and pauldrons, and I’ll need several thousand more gold for those. So some more side questing is probably called for, I’ll need to see where I am with the Fighters Guild or the Mages Guild or House Hlaalu!
