MCM tweaks for Tuxborn
This page covers all the MCM tweaks I do in a Tuxborn run. Putting them all on the same page, since none of them need pages of their own.
Better Third Person Selection
I turn on the option “Enabled in First Person”. I prefer first person, but with this option on, and partnered with the Contextual Crosshair tweaks for Tuxborn that I do, it makes it a lot easier for me to select small things on the screen, like loose coins lying around in a dungeon.
Improved Alternate Conversation Camera
I change three things in this mod:
- Set “Camera’s speed” in the Camera section to 750
- Set “1st Person Zoom” in the Camera Zoom section to 80
- Set “3rd Person Zoom” in the same section also to 80
I do these because I find that otherwise, the hard zoom in on NPCs when I’m talking to them is a bit too fast and sharp for my liking.
Improved Follower Dialogue – Lydia
I really like the modded Lydia in Tuxborn’s load order, but since I usually wind up with several followers, having several followers all talking at once gets to be a bit much.
So I dialed down how often Lydia will talk, using the “Lydia Comment Frequency” option. It’s set to 5 by default. I dialed it down to 1.
LOTD Settings (for Legacy of the Dragonborn)
In these settings, I do a few things.
Under General > General Options, I turn on the Stash Supplies spell. Because I loves me some Stash Supplies spell.
Under General > Shipment Crate Locations, I turn on the options to show museum shipment crates at carriages and at player houses. I like the idea of having them, but I don’t want them to be too plentiful. So right now my mood is to leave them off at inns.
Under General > Visitor Settings, I set all three of these to 10% to make random chatter less likely in the museum:
- Daily Tour Chance
- Vanilla visitors chance
- Idle Frequency
LOTD: The Curator’s Companion
There are two things I do in here, both in the Achievements section:
- Turn on Achievement Descriptions, so I can see little blurbs about what all the various LOTD achievements are
- Turn on Reward Perk Points, to allow for getting those when an LOTD achievement is unlocked
Photo Mode
In this MCM, I set the key for launching Photo Mode to be the single quote key. I need mostly under Open Photo Mode (Gamepad) for purposes of setting a keybind on the Steam Deck. But just to be thorough, I set it under Open Photo Mode as well.
QuickLoot IE
For this mod, in General > Behavior Settings, I set all options to Enabled except “Show when container is empty”.
Under Controls > Keybindings, I set Take All back to the X button. Tuxborn sets this to Y by default, but that’s for compatibility with BFCO profiles, which use the X button for other purposes. I prefer using X fr this on a non-BFCO profile.
Also, I set Disable loot menu to be the comma key, and Enable loot menu to be the period key. This is for the occasions in Tuxborn where I find QuickLoot gets janky with containers in certain mod-controlled areas, such as Carved Brink. So if I know a particular area has problems with QuickLoot, I can use these hotkeys to turn QuickLoot off as long as I’m running that mod, and back on again when I’m done with it.
Simple Fishing Overhaul
For this mod, the only change I make is to turn off the option for “Bait is Required”. Otherwise, you will have to gather the various types of bait that the mod wants you to use to catch certain types of fish.
Static Skill Leveling Rewritten
The only option I generally touch in here is the “Toggle skills leveling” option. By default, this should be on, which means that your skills will not increase as you use them. So far, my experience in Tuxborn has been that I actually want those skills to go up as I use them. But later on in the playthrough, I’ve found it beneficial to turn that option off again, once I have about all the skill bumps I think I need.
TrueHUD
Under Actor Info Bars > Miscellaneous Settings, I like to set “Indicator Mode” to Level Text. This will show the level of an opponent coming at me, which is information I tend to find more useful than the default, which is Soul Icon.
UMF
Under UMF Config > Hotkeys, I set Check to be the N key, so that I can use this to summon any followers UMF is tracking to me, in case they get lost. Usually, this means Lydia.
Wyrmstooth
For this mod, under General > Miscellaenous, I turn off the Draugr swarms option. Because I’ve been through Wyrmstooth a couple times now, and it’s never made RP sense to me why random packs of draugr would be running around in the open on that island.
