Elder Scrolls Online,  Gyllerah Playthrough

ESO catchup post: Gyllerah in March

I am so super behind on my ESO posts, y’all, it’s not even funny. So I’m going to start posting some more summarized catchup posts, just to give myself a bit of breathing room. These won’t go into the same level of in-depth detail that I usually get into, but I’ll include enough to at least remind myself of the high points in a given period from this year. And where relevant, I’ll still do more detailed commentary.

So without further ado, here’s the catchup post for Gyllerah that covers everything she did in March 2024 that I haven’t already posted about. Specifically, this covers March 9th through March 31st.

Dates and sessions count

  • Play dates: 3/9-3/31/2024
  • Session numbers in this run: 363-374

Trials run

3/9: Veteran Kyne’s Aegis, with Swamp Haven. Had to come in as a healer fill since one of the scheduled healers had to back out at the last minute, and I did better than I expected I would! And got told at the end that I did a great job. Very gratifying. <3

This also got me several more Perfected items for the Kyne’s Aegis stickerbook, including some Roaring Opportunist that may come in handy later as I continue to refine my healer gear.

3/15: Sanity’s Edge and Halls of Fabrication with the Saints guilds. Got a new dye color for killing a boatload of automatons, excellent!

3/16: Dreadsail Reef and Rockgrove, again with the Saints guilds. Only died a little bit. 😉 Notable achievement here was reacting correctly to the Deluge mechanic, getting into and out of the water again before the slaughterfish could nibble me to death. This kicked me up to 55 transmutes, so blew 50 of them transmuting Marwyth’s Pillar of Nirn Arm Cops to Divines. Also, holy crap, I think this was the first time I ran Rockgrove?

3/22: Sunspire and Kyne’s Aegis with the Saints guilds. Main notable death was my being stupid and jumping the wrong way to try to get to a chest! ;P But on the upside, got enough Roaring Opportunist pieces to fill out a five-piece set of it.

3/30: Ran Maw of Lorkhaj and Asylum Sanctorium with the Saints. AS was brutal; I kept getting slammed by AOEs from the boss. But at least on the upside, got enough transmutes to transmute Marwyth’s Pillar of Nirn belt to Divines!

Undaunted pledges and other guild-based dallies

3/16: Ran Banished Cells and the Vaults of Madness for the first time, and also did it solo, with Gyllerah in her stamina build and with Azandar as backup!

Also ran Aldunz and Root Sunder Ruins. Had Bastian as backup, and turning in the Mages Guild daily bumped his rapport enough to let me unlock the next stage of his personal quest.

3/17: Attempted to solo Fungal Grotto II and Crypt of Hearts II, and failed miserably. LOL. Fungal Grotto II in particular has a mechanic that’s impossible to get past if you’re playing solo, you have to run that with a group. Bailed on both of those. I think this was my first attempt at running Crypt of Hearts at all, too.

3/18: Chill Hollow (first visit to there, I think, I hadn’t had it tagged prior to this); soloed Spindleclutch I; got Swamp Haven’s help to run City of Ash on vet and Imperial City Prison on normal. This got me enough keys that I could buy the Wrathstone coffer from Urgarlag–and I got Symphony of Blades shoulders, finally. 😀

Also, I think this was the first time I’d run Imperial City Prison? I was very pleased to see Lyranth there.

Also ran Crimson Cove in Malabal Tor for the first time, and did the main local plot there.

3/26: Ran Wayrest Sewers and Blessed Crucible on vet, the latter of which I hadn’t been in before, with a group in the Saints guilds. Got enough keys to buy coffers and scored the Kra’gh epaulets, which I handed off to Marwyth!

Sales action

Did a bunch of sales, including big-ticket items, and topped 3.1 million in the bank early in the month. Kept going after that!

Parsing

Continued playing around with parsing, using Gyllerah’s stamina build, and clocked about 25K in about 13 minutes.

Adventuring in Wrothgar

Finished off the Wrothgar plot. Main highlights:

  • Helped Clan Shatul, which included the plot about the chief’s daughter who wants to become chief of her tribe, fuck yeah. <3 (Side-eyed Yazara asking me to fix the duel by replacing the blade of the weaker contender, about which Gyllerah protested, since that wasn’t fair. But I had no way of proceeding with the plot without doing this, booooo. So gave the replacement blade to Laurig.)
  • Helped Clan Morkul, where I rather loved the chief’s forge-wife who punched her mother-in-law for insulting her smithing! 🤣 Then had to help the chief’s daughter find the clan’s lost forge, which turned out to be a blood-forge at Morkul Rest, and I had to advise her on whether to abandon it or not; told her to abandon it.
  • Reported back to Orsinium, where the king had made a bet with his shield-wives about whether I’d come back successful. LOL.
  • Eveli Sharp-Arrow asked me about approaching High Priestess Solgra about a secret rescue mission!
  • Ran that rescue mission, which turned out to be rescuing the imprisoned Fharun chief Bazrag. His stronghold had been overrun by Vosh Rakh cultists, ohnoez! I was intrigued to learn that the stronghold actually had a prison, which was interesting given what I knew about Orc justice.
  • Went back to Orsinium and found that Kurog was super pissed off about Eveli killing a couple of his guards–apparently to keep them from apprehending Bazrag! Had to then get a message from Eveli decoded so that I could find her.
  • Rendezvoused with Eveli and Solgra and learned that Bazrag was being framed for the attack on the temple in the city.
  • Headed off to Paragon’s Remembrance to run the place, including a side plot involving rescuing captives, and a crunchy choice about two trapped captives that could not both be rescued. That was sad, but the old Orc woman who bellowed about how she could find her own damn way out was delightful. <3
  • Infiltrated a gathering of the cultists and was ordered to kill Talviah, one of my supporting NPCs; flat out refused to do that and killed every cultist in the room. But also learned that OHNOEZ the cult was planning to infiltrate the great moot that would make Kurog king!
  • Learned that SURPRISE SURPRISE Forge-Mother Alga was the driving force behind the cultists.
  • Got walloped by Alga and thrown into prison, only to be healed and rescued by one of the shield-wives.
  • Rescued Eveli and Bazrag from the dungeons and we had to find our own way into the moot, to stop the cultists.
  • High Priestess Solgra was taken out by an assassin. 😢 And I had to decide whether to kill the assassin in question. I opted to spare her, but she gave me shit for it! (And when I run this plot as Veghra, I am totally killing her.)
  • Had trouble solving a puzzle in the library to find info on how to get into the moot via a secret tunnel; resorted to the wiki to look up the answer.
  • Final fight with Kurog was crunchy, dude packed a mighty punch, and his mother kept throwing power at him to strengthen him, too. She killed herself doing this, which pissed Kurog off even more, until I finally killed him.
  • Bazrag took over organizing the survivors, and we held a funeral for Kurog even though everything turned out kind of horrible.
  • The funeral was very moving. I got saluted by an honor guard! 🥲
  • Bazrag took over as Kurog’s replacement and swore he was never going to enforce his will on the other chiefs, but instead take council with them.
  • Got Kurog’s royal armor as a new costume, and it looked quite bitchin’ on Gyllerah, I feel. <3 But I’ll probably actually use it as Veghra, once she runs this plot and earns it.

And overall: holy crap this plot was fun and I am delighted to have run it. Swamp Haven guildmates were telling me that it’s one of the best plots in the game. They are not wrong.

Meanwhile, ran the plot involving the Frozen Fleet, which gives a guaranteed Briarheart dagger as a quest reward, which I handed off to Marwyth. Was pleased by encountering an Orc I’d previously seen in Coldharbour as part of this plot, which was a crunchy one and had some decent background intrigue to it.

Ran a side quest branching off of that one, too, which required me to find a lost pendant and choose who to give it to after. I chose the woman of the two contenders, since the guy came across as skeevy.

On 3/20, killed World Bosses at Nyzchaleft Falls and King-Chief’s Throne to unlock an achievement and free Orc-themed costumes!

Making and/or acquiring gear for alts

3/20: Made level 36 gear for Veghra. Tried mix of Law of Julianos, Mechanical Acuity, and Magnus’ Gift craftable set pieces.

3/21: Made some Hunding’s Rage pieces to see if combining those with Briarheart would help Marwyth’s parsing. Answer: not so much.

3/23: Bought heavy Stormfist shoulders from the Golden in Cyrodiil so I could hand them off to Marwyth. And later, spent Undaunted keys on mystery coffers from Glirion, both of which also contained Stormfist shoulders, AUGH. 🤣

Some adventuring in Necrom

3/26: Tried to take a Bastion Nymic daily in Necrom, only to learn the hard way that Bastion Nymics are under no circumstances a thing you can run solo. Ow.

So ran a delve daily with Azandar instead, and also a surprise side quest in Apocrypha. The side quest was at the Sidereal Cloisters, and that was great fun. 😀 And the delve was the Apogee of the Tormenting Eye, where I picked up the local quest in addition to the one for the daily. Also fun!

Also, was rather amused that one of the Ordinators who gives out dailies in Necrom is in fact a Hermaeus mora worshipper–but not the one who gave me the delve quest! The one who gave me the delve quest was all huffy about Hermaeus Mora cultists trying to steal Tribunal secrets. And I do wonder if she’s aware her colleague is a Mora worshipper!

Adventuring in Greenshade and Malabal Tor

3/27: Ran Carac Dena and the Underroot, two delves I hadn’t been in before. Also ran the Belarata ruin, and did the local quest there to unlock the Falinesti Green dye color.

Maelstrom Arena

Ran Maelstrom Arena for the first time! That was challenging, and took me a while to make it through. But I got the Maelstrom bow for the first time, fuck yes! And handed that off to Marwyth. 😀

And last but not least

The Jester’s Festival started, which I mostly don’t like. But I was surprised to actually like the coffer you can get from that! Which is now on a dresser in Greenshade. And I also have multiple festival banners around the house. Apparently Gyllerah just likes the decorations?

Next time

Gyllerah’s next post will be a similar format to this one, covering everything she did in April.
