Elder Scrolls Online,  Veghra Playthrough

In Which Veghra Rescues an Oracle and Battles Werewolves

Short post for my Veghra playthrough in ESO, dating from late February and early March. Main action here is moving the Glenumbra zone plot along, running the Summerset zone prologue, and doing a bit of side questing as well.

Play by play

  • Play dates: 2/29-3/6/2024
  • Session numbers in this run: 9-11

February 29th

  • Ran the Summerset prologue quest just to get it out of Veghra’s journal
  • Went more or less the same as with previous playthroughs–with the exception of more of it taking place in Glenumbra, just because I did start the quest in Daggerfall
  • While running the Mines of Khuras, found a journal and got an objective to take it to a woman in Glenumbra
  • But I did eventually wind up in Bewan as with the previous runs of this
  • Got into the Spiral Skein, rescued the Oracle, and dropped her off at Skywatch
  • While running this plot, also picked up the side quest involving taking the relic back to the Mages Guild in Vulkhel Guard for the dead mage
  • After that, did some additional action in Glenumbra
  • Caught a werewolf for the main zone plot
  • Got the reveal that OHNOEZ the Duke is infected!
  • Once again refused to kill Gloria
  • Also refused to let the Duke see his wife and daughter, and had Gloria capture him
  • While working on that also picked up two side quests
  • Found a guy who was one of a group of refugees whose women had all been kidnapped to be forcibly conscripted into a coven, got objective to find and rescue them
  • Also found a dead mercenary with a bounty notice for crocodile teeth
  • Found and freed the women, then killed enough crocodiles to get teeth for the bounty
  • Found the huntmaster to turn that bounty in, which let me mark a few more locations for the map
  • Wound up at the Mages Guild location I needed to get to for the main zone story
  • And the woman I was looking for to give her the journal was there, which was convenient
  • So gave her the journal and stopped there until next time

March 5th

  • After writs, later tried to do some adventuring
  • First wayshrined to Vulkhel Guard and marked it for the map
  • Then found the Mages Guild and talked to the snotty mage there to resolve the pending quest from Bewan
  • While there, also ducked into the manor to grab the skyshard there, which gave me a fresh skill point
  • Next stop: Glenumbra
  • Checked in with the Reachman witch Sibellec about the hag Mother Murk
  • She gave me a charm to charge off of dead hags, which I would need to use against Mother Murk
  • So went to go fight a few hags, and some imps while I was at it
  • Charged up the charm, then went to find Mother Murk and took her out
  • Reported back to Sibellec and turned in the quest, which let me level up to 29
  • Spent one skill point on bumping up Provisioning and the other one on maxing out the Keen Eye perk for Alchemy
  • Left off there since the game went down for scheduled maintenance

March 6th

  • Did some exploration with Veghra just so’s I could get Craglorn onto her map
  • This required me to land in Bangkorai first, then go overland till I could get to the access gate to Craglorn
  • Then ran around discovering a bunch of locations, including one I hadn’t found yet as Gyllerah: Elinhir
  • (Shit appeared to be going down in Elinhir from that I saw there)
  • Briefly checked out a couple of player homes, Domus Phrasticus and Earthtear Cavern
  • Then did some more actual RP
  • Met Abnur Tharn at the Mages Guild in Daggerfall to pick up his quest to go through a delve with him and find Sai Sahan
  • This time it pointed to Norvulk Ruins in Stormhaven
  • Ran the Mages Guild quest to get the Fork of Horripilation and the Wabbajack
  • Also ran the Fighters Guild quest to go with Sees-All-Colors into the Dwemer ruin
  • These went pretty much as per prior playthroughs, and leveled up to 30 while running them
  • Dropped all three points onto various crafting skills
  • Also sprang for the Malacath Chests style sheet so I could play with Veghra’s outfit some more

Action in Glenumbra

What parts of the Glenumbra plot I played out with Veghra in these sessions mostly went the same way they did with Gyllerah. Arguably, I could have had Veghra be a bit more hardcore and go ahead and kill Gloria to cure the Duke–or, alternately, just kill the Duke herself. But while I’m all for playing Veghra letting loose with Orcish vengeance, that didn’t really seem to fit here. So I went with the same plot options that I used with Gyllerah.

I did take the time to do extra side plots as I found them, though, just in the name of Veghra taking her sweet time playing through the map and seeing as much as she could. That’s a goal I’ve tried to maintain with her all throughout her playthrough.

Of the side plots, the one that was the most notable to me was talking to the Reachman witch Sibellec and going after Mother Murk. Sibellec was specifically a Reach witch, yet was not hostile, and not connected with the Bloodthorn efforts to take over Glenumbra. She was apparently just happily and quietly living near the Wyresses. Which is kinda neat, and a nice little detail of diplomacy I haven’t seen much of throughout my playing all over this game.

Player houses in Craglorn

Back in early March, while she was still wearing jewelry with the Swift trait and Adept Rider gear as well, Veghra was my fastest character–and therefore quite good for exploring and harvesting. So as I noted in the Play by Play, I ran around Craglorn a lot with her on 3/6, just to get stuff onto her map.

And I checked out a couple of player houses while I was at it: the one in Elinhir, and also the great big cavern manor-level home.

I may eventually pick up the one in Elinhir, Domus Phrasticus, just for an easy port into Craglorn. But I’m not sure I actually like the look of it. It’s Imperial style, and looks claustrophobically narrowly built to me.

I also took a peek at Earthtear Cavern. That one’s a very large cavern, and a manor-level player home. But it can only bought with crowns, which means I’m not getting it any time in the foreseeable future. So I didn’t bother to explore it.

Experimenting with Veghra’s outfit

When I hit level 30, I sprang for the Malacath Chests style sheet, so I could play around with Veghra’s outfit some more.

I really liked the idea of her wearing a mix of Orc, Ancient Orc, Trinimac, and Malacath styles. That seems appropriate for her, since she’s an Orc coming out of a traditional Orcish background–but getting other cultural influences definitely began to have an impact on her! Still, I think she’d really prefer to stick to Orc styles in general when she has the option.

As of this writing, her current outfit does not reflect this; it’s more oriented around the Daggerfall Covenant. But I want to get her another Outfit slot so I can get that Orcish outfit back into play for her, too.

Next time

Veghra’s next post will feature continuing Guild action, including hitting Norvulk Ruins.
