Fic: Tense Negotiations
I’ve felt the urge to write some fic based on my Skyrim adventures before, and I’ve done some cursory dabbling at it. But even though I have mixed feelings about the Project AHO mod, as I wrote in the review post I put up a little while ago, the core idea of the story is powerful enough that my writer brain kept playing with it and trying to come up with a way to make it make narrative sense that my Dragonborn agreed to actually help the people in the plot rather than destroying them.
So here you go, y’all, the first scene I’ve written in prose in quite some time. This is 2,903 words, and is based directly upon how events played out in recent Kendeshel sessions, which I’ll be covering in a few forthcoming playthrough posts.
It’s spoilery for the end of the Project AHO plotline, so a bit of an intro, and the actual prose, behind the fold.

Review of Project AHO mod (non-spoiler version)
I’m running Project AHO as part of my Kendeshel playthrough, and as of level 20, the plotline for this kicked in. So here’s a post with some commentary to review the mod and my experiences with it.
This post is almost entirely without spoilers. I say almost because there’s one aspect of it I do want to call out here in the spirit of a content warning. I’ll be getting into the actual crunchy spoilers as part of the main posts for Kendeshel’s playthrough, and will warn at the top of the relevant posts when those go up.
The TL;DR picoreview version: I have very mixed feelings about this mod in general. Some of it I liked quite a bit. Other parts… not so much.
More details behind the fold.

In Which Finds-The-Way Sabotages a Meadery, Helps Remnants, and Slays Potema
I just did a Finds post, but here’s another one, because I’m trying to make a hard push through clearing out my backlog!
Main action in this post: running Honningbrew Meadery for the Thieves Guild; taking the Lexicon back to Avanchnzel; building out Goldenhills Plantation; acquiring the Headman’s Cleaver from Lost Knife Hideout; running the Interception plot, and getting the Remnants gear; and doing the second half of the fight with Potema in Solitude.

Backpack Glitch in Legacy of the Dragonborn on Steam Deck
Breaking out of Kendeshel’s playthrough posts to write up a brief issue I noted while playing her. Legacy’s official Discord says they can’t answer support requests from me because I’m playing on the Steam Deck and that’s not included in their official supported platforms. So investigation of problems has to be on me.
I’m okay with that! Because as I know very well from my day job, it’s impossible for a development team to provide support for a problem if they cannot repro the problem. And if they don’t have access to the same platform a user sees a problem on, by definition, they can’t support investigating that problem properly.
But that does mean I need to keep track of issues I see, so that I know what to do about them or other similar issues in the future.
So here’s a post about what I found while trying to add Anniversary Edition backpacks to the displays in the museum. I’ll do similar writeups for any other problems I find, not only for my benefit, but for anybody else who might want to do a modded Skyrim run on the Steam Deck that includes Legacy. Or, for that matter, anybody on the PC side who might stumble across a similar problem.

In Which Kendeshel Visits the Greybeards and the Jarl of Falkreath
Finally moving my Legacy of the Dragonborn playthrough a little further along. Mostly this is typical early Skyrim playthrough stuff, and I’m still getting the hang of displaying stuff in the gallery. But there’s also some quest hook action showing up for the Wyrmstooth and Moon and Star quest lines!

In Which Finds-The-Way Becomes Thane of Riften and Robs an Estate
Swinging back around to Skyrim in German, and my Argonian, Finds-The-Way! Primary action in this: getting the rest of the instruments for the Bards College, hunting down skooma dealers for Riften and becoming thane, getting Honeyside and housecarl Iona, getting Shadowfoot Sanctum, robbing Goldenglow Estate, and running Darklight Tower to pick up Illia as my steward for Goldenhills Plantation.

In Which Elessir Becomes Arch-Mage of the College of Winterhold
Swinging back around to Skyrim, and Elessir’s run in particular. Main action here: finishing up getting instruments for the Bards College; investigating what happened to the family in Frostflow Lighthouse; claiming Goldenhills Plantation; and doing a hard push through the rest of the College of Winterhold plot, running Mzulft and Labyrinthian, and then returning to the college for the finale.

In Which Kendeshel Journeys to Skyrim, Again
This is take two of Kendeshel’s starting session in my Legacy of the Dragonborn Skyrim playthrough. As I previously posted, I had to start over because I found annoying mod breakage that I didn’t want to put up with! Action is almost the same as in my previous starting session, minus stopping in Dragon Bridge, plus a bit more exploration in Helgen given that this playthrough also includes Alternate Start.

In Which Elessir Saves Dawnstar and Finds a Lost Drum
Another single-session post, this time for Elessir, as I try to keep my backlog of game notes moving. 🙂
This session features running the nightmares plot in Dawnstar and getting the drum out of Halldir’s Cairn. With a heaping side helping of WTF as I discover the game put itself into Master tier Difficulty without my wanting it to.

In Which Finds-The-Way Finds a Drum and a Very Big Hammer
Single-session post for once, for Finds-The-Way’s run! Main action is running Halldir’s Cairn and the rest of the Cursed Tribe plot, both of which I’ve done before, but I got a good amount of language geekery out of this. So German language geekery is most of this post.
