In Which Merawen Finally Fights Alduin and Also Acquires the Wabbajack
I boinged around a lot in this session, but in between all of the fast traveling, I did actually also revisit the main plot! Which meant taking the Dragon Elder Scroll up to the top of the Throat of the World, learning Dragonrend, and having the first round of fighting with Alduin.
And Alduin was only one of the dragons I fought in this session, though unlike the two Revered Dragons and the Ancient one, he actually survived the fight!
Next to that, doing the Mind of Madness quest and getting the Wabbajack from Sheogorath was a relaxing vacation. 😀

In Which Merawen Visits Paarthurnax, Repairs the White Phial, and Seeks an Elder Scroll
A fair amount of plot action in this as I moved the main plot along, but also finished up the quest about the White Phial. And a lot of this was familiar territory–but not all of it!
Details as always behind the fold.

In Which Merawen Finds the White Phial, and Thieves Her Way Through Riften and Markarth
This session was all about the thievery, but with a side helping of doing the first part of the White Phial quest. I’ve finally done all the necessary side jobs in Markarth to trigger that city’s special Thieves Guild quest!
And I found a second item of the dragonscale armor set. \0/

In Which Merawen Flees to Riften
This session pretty much amounted to doing the rest of the preliminary work to get Merawen established enough as Dragonborn that I could get to the point of failing to find the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller… and then bailing to Riften.
Highlights and commentary and such behind the fold!

In Which the Dragonborn is On the Road
I did not intend to set off plots for Windhelm in last night’s run, but I totally set off plots for Windhelm in last night’s run—along with more quests for the college, and a surprise side quest entirely because I accidentally hit the Shout button.

Skyrim status update: Almost to level 8
Twitter thread from May 6, 2021, in which Alarrah discovers Miraak cultists, and runs Shroud Hearth Barrow near Ivarstead. Also, she is arrested for lockpicking!
Skyrim status update: Almost to level 8. Significant things accomplished today:
1. Tried to return to Whiterun, got found by cultists who screamed at me about being a false Dragonborn, and promptly fried my ass a couple of times
6:45 PM · May 6, 20212. Then went “okay FINE guess I’m not going back to Whiterun for now”, at which point I went back to Ivarstead and got found by the cultists AGAIN, but this time I backed off and let Lydia and the Ivarstead guards kill them
6:45 PM · May 6, 2021HTTP 1.1/418 Teapot · @rmd1023
And then Lydia was grumpy about it?
6:46 PM · May 6, 2021Angela Korra’ti · @annathepiper
(I SEE YOU BACK THERE PRETENDING NOT TO YAWN, Ms. “I’m Sworn to Carry Your Burdens”!)
6:49 PM · May 6, 20213. Took a few tries trying to figure out how to actually get into the lower part of the barrow, and I did finally resort to looking up a spoiler, at which point I went ‘derp’
4. Also had to look up a spoiler to figure out how to get past the last puzzle in the barrow
6:45 PM · May 6, 20215. Frost spells don’t seem too bad as long as I’m blocking with my shield!
6. Seriously, Lydia honey, GET OUT OF MY WAY
6:46 PM · May 6, 20217. Finally cleared Shroud Hearth Barrow, which took a few tries, as I had to figure out how to not only pick off skeletons from a distance, but _also_ keep Lydia from getting killed
6:46 PM · May 6, 20218. Also, what’s this “I’m sworn to carry your burdens” shit when I’m trying to give you better armor and healing potions because I like you and would like to keep you alive, mmkay?
2:34 PM · Apr 17, 20219. Realized I also had to try to find Klimmek in Ivarstead to report back to him and finish the “yes I took your supplies up to the Greybeards” quest. Made the mistake of trying to lockpick his front door, and got my ass arrested by guards and sent to Riften, oops?
6:47 PM · May 6, 2021But I paid the fine and Lydia and I were free to go and now I can fast travel to Riften, yay?
10. But I did also find Klimmek and got 500 gold from him
11. And I also have a piece of a Shout for clearing the barrow
6:47 PM · May 6, 2021Saved at this point, and probably will do the quest next to go get the horn that the Greybeards want me to fetch. Then probably follow Paul’s advice and buy a house in Whiterun, sell a bunch of loot, and then spend some time out on the plains getting better at archery.

Today’s Things Accomplished in Skyrim
A Twitter thread from May 5, 2021, in which I finally achieve getting Alarrah to Whiterun and discovering that she’s Dragonborn!
Today’s Things Accomplished in Skyrim:
1. Went back to Whiterun to give them the Dragonstone
2. Helped them kill a dragon and I sorta kinda absorbed its dying soul? (hi there main plot line!)
3. I’m a Dragonborn say what now?!
5:49 PM · May 5, 20214. I’m also now a Thane of Whiterun and now I have my very own housecarl following me around
5. Hit another milestone: my very first NPC complaining about the arrow to the knee ;D
6. The Greybeards went BOOM by way of saying yo, Dragonborn, we’d like a word with you
5:50 PM · May 5, 20217. Dragged Lydia all the way down to Embershard Mine because I had no clue how to get to High Hrothgar
8. Finally made it to Iverstead but killed a whole bunch of bandits, wolves, sabre cats, necromancers, a bear, and an apprentice ice mage on the way
5:50 PM · May 5, 20219. Stumbled into Iverstead about 3am and hey this inn looks EXACTLY like the inn in Riverwood, is this a franchise or what? 😉
5:50 PM · May 5, 2021Me: “It’s the Motel 6 of Skyrim!”
@Bacon4Birds: “We’ll leave the torch on for ya!”
