This is the page for my ninth Skyrim playthrough, for the Argonian character Finds-The-Way, who was a thief and assassin.

I began this playthrough on 7/8/2023, as part of verifying whether my base Skyrim game was still okay after a disastrous attempt to recover Harrowhark’s playthrough. But I went ahead and decided to play her, with a few goals in mind:

Running with no mods whatsoever, just so I could have Achievements–not a thing I’ve been able to do before
Playing in German!
Running the Thieves Guild again
Playing the Dark Brotherhood, finally

Finds’ playthrough concluded on 8/23/2024. Her posts are not yet done, though, and I’ll be working on getting those caught up, since she did have a complete playthrough. Until then, her playthrough will remain in the Current section of the Skyrim playthroughs on the site.

Like Ysani before her, Finds is named (indirectly) after my character Wayfound from my days on Two Moons MUSH.

Finds-The-Way’s Backstory

Very rough idea for Finds’ backstory is that she’s marsh-born, from a very remote tribe that hasn’t had a Shadowscale born to them in a very long time. But she was born under the sign of the Shadow, and her tribe’s Hist realized she would have to go to Skyrim to find the Dark Brotherhood to receive training there.

As a cover story, she also cheerfully claimed to have relatives working at the Riften docks. Who most likely conveniently “died” the first time a dragon strafed the place in her run!

In Which Finds-The-Way Becomes a Nightingale - 11/27/2023
In which Finds-The-Way reforges the Gauldur amulet; destroys a Golden Saints bandit camp near Karthwasten; slays the mad conjurer Thoron in the Solitude sewers; robs Mercer Frey's house in Riften; and is sworn to the service of Nocturnal as a Nightingale. Contains the surprise death of a named Solitude NPC! And also, a surprise extra thief in Riftweald Manor!
In Which Finds-The-Way Becomes Arch-Mage, and Thane of Hjaalmarch and the Pale - 11/11/2023
In which Finds-The-Way recovers the Staff of Magnus and uses it to slay Ancano, and save the College of Winterhold; quests into Runoff Caverns to shut down a malfunctioning Dwemer weather machine; battles necromancers at Fort Snowhawk; discovers why a house burned down in Morthal, and stops a vampire plot; kills a giant for the Jarl of Dawnstar; and becomes thane of both Hjaalsmarch and the Pale.
In Which Finds-The-Way Acquires Mehrunes’ Razor and Azura’s Star - 11/05/2023
In which Finds-The-Way acquires the pieces of Mehrunes' Razor, but is forced to kill Silus Vesuius to claim it once it's reassembled; acquires and cleanses Azura's Star of the soul of the necromancer who'd tainted it; and quests into Mzulft to discover the location of the Staff of Magnus.
