In Which Delga Rescues a Vampire and Searches for a Moth Priest
Primary goal of this session was moving the Dawnguard plot further along, from the point where I rescue Serana to the point where she and I are looking for the Moth Priest.
With a side helping of killing a whole bunch of dragons, getting issues with the Standing Stones sorted, and selling and stashing stuff in Whiterun!

In Which Delga Joins the College of Winterhold
Lots of action in this session, with multiple dragons, fulfilling a bandit bounty, and last but most assuredly not least, getting the mage college plotline underway!

In Which Delga Slays Dragon Priests and Makes No Friends Among the Thalmor
This session鈥榮 preliminary action was visiting Ragnvald, to fight the dragon priest there and get its Shout word, and doing the same at Shearpoint because I wanted that Throw Voice Shout!
Main action saw me return to the main plot for a little while, because I decided it was high time that I go pay a call on the Thalmor Embassy! Proceeded through the recovery of Esbern from Riften, and getting Delphine and Esbern setting out for Sky Haven Temple.

Adventures in Skyrim Up Till Now
I’ve been posting play by play updates of my adventures in Skyrim, a thing that folks are telling me on both Twitter and Facebook that they enjoy reading. It has, however, occurred to me that it might actually be nice to post that stuff to the blog! Not only for the sake of new actual content, but also for the sake of anybody who actually reads my blog (or the Dreamwidth mirror), and who might be entertained by my Skyrim adventures.
I’m not going to re-post all the play by plays up to this point, just because redoing them is work I don’t feel like doing. But to bring everybody who doesn’t follow me on social media up to speed, here’s where I am in the game so far. (And while this is primarily a summary of in-game activity, I’m also throwing in periodic in-character commentary, just because this is so immersive a game that it really does feel like my old MUSHing days.)

Alarrah the Wood-Elf is now level 21, and has established herself as a Thane of Whiterun, with her loyal housecarl Lydia tromping with her all over the countryside killing assorted dragons, bandits, undead, and other beasties; righting assorted wrongs; and just generally collecting a lot of shiny loot while the Skyrim Civil War builds around her.

WOO I actually did combat successfully!
Twitter thread from May 1, 2021, celebrating that I actually successfully fought wolves!
Also, I had zero patience for love triangle drama in Riverwood, and went and told Camilla that both of the guys competing for her attention were being douches about it. This did not amuse Faendal.
Things accomplished in Animal Crossing: a meteor shower! Did a lot of wishing on stars. Second bridge is in progress on my island, and I’ve planted a bunch of flowers and set up some lovely new fencing and benches near the plaza. Take that, 1-star rating!
10:15 PM 路 May 1, 2021Things accomplished in Skyrim: WOO I actually did combat successfully! \0/ Take that, wolves! Found the Guardian Stones (chose Warrior, it seemed easiest and safest for my novice self). Made a shield on the wise council of Paul.

I have become a console gamer!
Like a lot of folks during the pandemic, my housemate Paul got heavily engrossed in playing Animal Crossing. He specifically ordered himself a Nintendo Switch so that he could play it. And from all the things he was sharing about the experience of playing it, a couple weeks ago I started thinking, gosh that sounds like fun, I’d like to play it too I think.

Further adventures in learning the Switch
The Twitter thread from April 22, 2021, in which I lamented that boy howdy was I not good at the game controls yet. I derped my way into Riverwood, but completely missed the Guardian Stones! Because I’d totally failed to realize that I was supposed to follow either Hadvar or Ralof out of Helgen to get to safety after Alduin’s attack.
Further adventures in learning the Switch: poked around some more with Skyrim last night. Note: this is the first time I鈥檝e tried to play a first person game AT ALL so boy howdy do I need to practice the controls. 馃槼 I am NOT good at them. But at least I made it to Riverwood!
10:13 AM 路 Apr 22, 2021And apparently I completely missed the Guardian Stones? I gotta swing back and do those. But also take a lot of time wandering around Riverwood, practicing the controls, and learning WTF I鈥檓 doing before I try to go to Whiterun. This will be a challenge. Fun, but a challenge!
