Pretty much what this one says on the tin: hurray! I got the thaneship of the Rift! And Honeyside, and Iona as my latest housecarl.

  • Reported to the Jarl that Cragslane was dealt with
  • Already had two favor quests done (Balimund’s fire salts, Ingun’s ingredients) so got Harrald’s sword for him (“Even though Khajiit thinks you are a lazy bastard if you cannot be bothered to fetch your own goddamned sword. But she does not say this out loud.”)
  • Got the Jarl to offer me the thaneship if I buy Honeyside
  • Sold a bunch of gems, silver ore, and four of my six gold ingots to Madesi; sold the other two ingots to Balimund
  • Boinged to Honningbrew and sold Mallus the remaining skooma
  • Boinged to Lakeview and picked up more things to sell
  • Boinged to Whiterun; sold things to Belethor and made potions to sell to Arcadia; this got me up over 5K
  • Dropped off Markarth armor and the ebony pieces I was carrying at Breezehome
  • Boinged back to Riften
  • Checked in with Anuriel and bought Honeyside; checked in with the Jarl and yay! I’m thane! (“Khajiit is pleased to have shelter in one of the less cold cities in this cold land, and this is safer than sleeping in the sewer with the other thieves.”)
  • HI IONA
  • Headed out from Honeyside; decided to go ahead and stop at Largashbur
  • And oh look a cranky giant! As well as a cranky goat and frostbite spider! Called up the dremora and took them all out with him and Iona
  • No sign of Ugol being killed by the giant? I saw three dead generic orcs but Atub went straight to begging me for help; agreed to fetch her troll fat and a daedra heart
  • But first went to Avanchnzel; killed another cave bear there
  • Saved for the night

Commentary

Not really much in the way of new stuff in this to go into in detail. But it was definitely clear that I am not to a point yet of being able to tromp across the Hjaalmarch marshes and expect to survive an attack by a chaurus reaper. Even with the dremora along. So I’m clearly still too squishy for that.

And now I have the thaneship in Riften! And just as importantly, Honeyside as a home and Iona as another housecarl. I need to get her a Nordic carved helmet to go with the Nordic armor I gave her, so she’ll be fully outfitted! (I’d give her the ebony I’ve accumulated but most of that stuff is actually enchanted in interesting ways and I kinda wanna keep it!)

Next time

I’ll run Avanchnzel for starters, just to put the Lexicon back where it goes, and get that bonus to Smithing! And hopefully exercise Illusion some more.

After that, it’ll depend on how far along I am getting Illusion up to 75, which will dictate when I can go buy the Invisibility spell from Drevis. If I’m not to that point after finishing Avanchnzel, I’ll probably go run Arkngthamz next so I can get Katria’s plot underway. Because Katria! <3

Once I hit that 75 point though and can get Invisibility, then I can go run the East Empire warehouse, the next part of the Scoundrel’s Folly quest. 😀
