• Tweaks I make to playing Tuxborn

This wiki page covers a list of various tweaks I make to Tuxborn whenever I fire up a new character in that modpack. I’m providing them here on my own site vs. putting them on Tuxborn’s official wiki, because these changes should be considered unofficial. They fall into “Rule 11” territory, where Tuxborn devs Ouroboros and Omni will not support you if anything goes wrong with modifications you choose to make to the list. However, I’ve personally used these specific changes, and am therefore willing to advise players about them. So unless I label a specific change below otherwise, direct questions about any of these to me, not to Ouro…

  • MCM tweaks for Tuxborn

This page covers all the MCM tweaks I do in a Tuxborn run. Putting them all on the same page, since none of them need pages of their own. Better Third Person Selection I turn on the option “Enabled in First Person”. I prefer first person, but with this option on, and partnered with the Contextual Crosshair tweaks for Tuxborn that I do, it makes it a lot easier for me to select small things on the screen, like loose coins lying around in a dungeon. Improved Alternate Conversation Camera I change three things in this mod: I do these because I find that otherwise, the hard zoom in on…

  • SkyHUD tweaks for Tuxborn

SkyHUD technically doesn’t have an INI file per se, but it does have a text file that basically is the same thing. I make a few changes to it because hi, I’m old AF and some of Tuxborn’s UI elements are just too damned small for my visual comfort on the Steam Deck. Here’s what I did to this file. I turn off the Dot crosshair, because see above commentary re: I need my crosshair, dammit: I set all three of these options back up to 1.0 because they are the things I find too small for easy viewing with Tuxborn’s defaults: This file lives here:

  • Shades of Mortality tweaks for Tuxborn

With the next release of Tuxborn we’ll be adding in some extra changes to this mod that’ll make it easier to cure its Death’s Grip debuff. But until that release happens, here’s a suggested list of changes you can consider. For the main Shades of Mortality INI file In this file, first and foremost, I set this to deactivate the option for the mod to eat your gold when you die: I set this to be a little kinder to myself and allow me to sleep anywhere to cure the debuff: And I set this to try to strike a balance between the mod giving me free passes for “death”,…

  • Contextual Crosshair tweaks for Tuxborn

Here’s the thing: I get why people might want to use Contextual Crosshair. It’s an immersion thing. But if you’re like me, and your aim happens to be ass, then you may be going “But I need that crosshair!” Short of outright disabling the mod, which is definitely Rule 11 territory, I compromise by setting the following things in ContextualCrosshair.ini. Under the [Crosshair] section, I set: Mode = 2 Under the [SneakMeter] and [Spells] sections, I set: Mode = 1 I find that this is usually enough to let me see the crosshair often enough to satisfy me so that I don’t have to actually turn off the mod.

  • Compass Navigation Overhaul tweak for Tuxborn

There are a couple of things I do to this mod. One, because I don’t really speak metric, I flip this option to zero so that it’ll show me distances in feet rather than meters: And two, down in the quest lists section, I also adjust the horizontal position of where the quest list shows up. By default, it’s aligned to the left of the screen. And I’ve found that this causes some issues with the quest list content overlapping with SkyUI, if I have a window up to look at my inventory, to loot a container, or to interact with a merchant. The easiest solution I’ve found for this…

  • Blade and Blunt INI file tweak for Tuxborn

This is the one fix I do that Omni and Ouro do support, so this one’s not a Rule 11. I add the following line to BladeAndBlunt.ini in the Tuxborn – Settings section of the file structure: You can edit this file directly in MO2, or otherwise edit it outside of MO2 in the following path:

  • Ancient Edict

This is a transcription of a note called “Ancient Edict”, which you can find if you’re running the Immersive College of Winterhold mod in Skyrim, and in particular running the Fall of Winterhold quest it provides. The note is rendered in a very small font that could make it tough to read for some users, so I have transcribed it here. Blood of the traitor Beinaarkh, unwillingly taken. Seat of the power that broke his head. Separate forever so bones lie dead, and blue wings ne’er again glide. Good friend for Ysmir sake abide. Else burn like the souls who worshipped pride! • Elder Vindar’s Journal

This is a transcription of a journal found in Skyrim if you’re running the Immersive College of Winterhold mod, and if you’re running the Fall of Winterhold quest that that mod provides. The transcription is provided here for ease of reading, if you have trouble reading the journal itself during your playthrough. Property of the Temple of the Gods Rain’s Hand – 4E122 Morndas 1st: Feykirson has missed his third sermon in a row! I doubt he’ll return to the temple before his father returns or before this storm abates. This congregation has been shrinking for too long! • College of Winterhold Entrance Examinations 4E 122

This is a transcription of a note called “College of Winterhold Entry Examinations 4E 122”, found in Skyrim if you are running the Immersive College of Winterhold mod, and if you are running the Fall of Winterhold quest that mod makes available to you once you become Arch-Mage. Notes Screenshots Here are screenshots of what this exam actually looks like in a game with the mod installed. These screenshots were taken via my Steam Deck, and I apologize in advance for the “hi, you just took a screencap” notifications in the bottom right corners on the third and fourth pics.
